SelectHealth Individual Health Plans

You may want to:

  1. Change to the SelectMed network – this change does not affect your coverage but may limit your choice of providers.
  2. Increase your deductible or change to another plan.
  3. Re-apply on your current plan. This is a good option if you have had your policy for at least 2 years and have not had a major diagnosis or high utilization in the past year.
  4. Apply with another carrier. Depending on your situation, another carrier may rate their comparable policy differently and may save you money on your monthly premium.

SelectHealth Individual Dental Plans

SelectHealth also offers individual dental plans. You must be enrolled on an individual SelectHealth medical policy to apply for dental coverage. When the dental plan is selected, dental coverage will be added to all members of the family on the medical plan. You may enroll or disenroll on the dental plan only during your annual plan renewal.

Medicare

The Medicare Annual Election Period (AEP) this year is October 16th through December 7th, 2011. At this time you may change Part D prescription drug plans and/or Med-Advantage plans. If you make a change during this period, your new coverage will begin on January 1, 2012.

(NEW) Annual Disenrollment Period: Making changes to your coverage after December 31 Between January 1 – February 14, 2012, if you’re in a Medicare Advantage Plan, you can leave your plan and switch to Original Medicare. If you switch to Original Medicare during this period, you will have until February 14 to also join a Medicare Prescription Drug Plan to add drug coverage. Your coverage will begin the first day of the month after the plan gets your enrollment form.

During this period, you can’t do the following:

  • Switch from Original Medicare to a Medicare Advantage Plan.
  • Switch from one Medicare Advantage Plan to another.
  • Switch from one Medicare Prescription Drug Plan to another.
  • Join, switch, or drop a Medicare Medical Savings Account Plan.

In most cases, you must stay enrolled for that calendar year starting the date your coverage begins. However, in certain situations, you may be able to join, switch, or drop a Medicare Advantage Plan at other times.
